JOB TITLE: Trainer on Aging Issues

REPORTS TO: Chief Programs and Communications Officer
Eldercare Locator Senior Program Manager

OVERALL DESCRIPTION:
The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) is seeking an experienced professional trainer to provide training on aging issues and resources to n4a staff and aging professionals. Part of the time will be devoted to ongoing training for n4a staff, partner staff and volunteers assigned to working on the Eldercare Locator. The other half of the time will be devoted to developing training programs for staff of n4a, Area Agencies on Aging and Title VI Native American aging programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess training needs of Eldercare Locator assigned staff, assure that call center staff and volunteers are trained to respond in a professional and person-centered manner, develop and conduct training programs to address their needs and to ensure compliance with existing protocols and their preparation for, and understanding of, emerging issues in aging

Develop a comprehensive training and protocols manual and update as appropriate

Develop an annual training plan

Develop protocols for emerging issues in aging

Recruit and provide on-going training and coordination of volunteers to ensure that all staff assigned to work on the Eldercare Locator have the most up-to-date education on aging issues and all are equally prepared to perform their assigned tasks.

Design and develop training tools and programs for aging professionals.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Excellent communications and training skills

Excellent written and oral communications skills related to developing training programs using a variety of methods in-person, webinars, workshops, etc.

Experience in designing and developing adult education programs

Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple activities and meet timelines.

        
QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree in Education, Gerontology, Adult Education, or related field.
Substantive knowledge of aging issues.

In-depth knowledge of the Older Americans Act Service Delivery System and its range of programs and services and other federal programs that provide benefits to older persons including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, SSI, Food Stamps, LIHEAP, etc.
    
Minimum of two years experience in developing and delivering educational programs on aging issues.


WORK HOURS

Exempt position with full benefits but subject to grant funding.

SALARY

Dependent upon background and experience of candidate selected.
