n4a Consulting Services

The recent shift to a Managed Care Medicaid system as well as other Affordable Care Act initiatives such as Care Transitions, has created a significant change in the long-term services and supports (LTSS) delivery landscape. This change, while challenging on many levels, also offers tremendous opportunities for the Aging Network to develop new business lines that can be marketed to Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), hospitals and even employers—which is particularly important due to the increasing limitations of government funding. New business lines can provide unencumbered income for your agency that will allow you to continue to serve the broad-based needs of older adults, people with disabilities and their caregivers in your community.

How do you prepare your agency to make the most of this new LTSS landscape? How do you create suitable business lines that MCOs, hospitals and employers will want to contract?

Help Managing the New Landscape

To successfully manage this new LTSS landsccape, agencies must deliver higher-quality care, smarter and with better coordination—something Area Agencies on Aging have advocated (and done) for a long time. Now, AAAs have an opportunity to be at the heart of these changes!

To do this effectively, many of the business practices that have served us well for many years need to be refocused to help AAAs leverage new business opportunities that meet the needs of potential payers while staying on mission.

AAAs are THE experts on LTSS, especially home and community-based services (HCBS). Yet, as your association, n4a routinely hears from AAA leaders across the nation that you need help to evolve your agency to meet the challenges and business practice demands required by these new contracting opportunities. So we’re here to help!
