Strengthening Cultural Competence within National Aging Network, Area Agencies on Aging, Title VI Programs and Service Providers

The n4a Diversity Advancement Toolkit is designed to support Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Title VI programs in becoming more aware and knowledgeable about diversity issues within their operational environments. It is designed to provide tools for improving diversity practices and cultural competency.

The notion of cultural competence suggests that there are effective ways for eldercare providers to address the service provision challenges presented by an increasingly diverse older population. Excellent examples of culturally responsive practices and organizations exist around the country, and many tools and resources are available to assist aging service organizations in improving their ability to serve diverse populations of older adults.

The tools and resources in this toolkit will assist agencies in meeting a variety of needs and organizational objectives. This toolkit is a work in progress and constructive feedback from users is appreciated. We encourage and welcome your referral to other resources that could be added to this toolkit.
