Progress Slows on Next Round of COVID-19 Relief
Earlier this week, Senate Republicans unveiled
a suite of legislative measures totaling just over one trillion dollars to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. The measures, however, are limited in scope and do not include additional funding for fiscally struggling states, state Medicaid programs or safety net programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

CMS Extends HCBS Settings Rule Compliance Deadline Amidst Pandemic

In response to the unprecedented challenges created by the COVID-19 crisis, CMS has extended the deadline for Medicaid providers to comply with the HCBS Settings Rule. States now have until March 17, 2023 to comply with the regulation’s criteria.

Senators Turn to Next Coronavirus Response Legislation
Senators will return to Washington next week, and our expectation is that details will soon emerge about the chamber’s next round of virus relief legislation. This activity is expected months after the House passed their $3 trillion relief package, the HEROES Act, and is expected to be much more modest despite a raging virus outbreak and benefits that expire at the end of July. Your advocacy is still needed!
