n4a Members, "House of Cards" Actor All Push for OAA III B Funding!
Scores of n4a members took to Capitol Hill this week as part of n4a's 22nd annual Aging Policy Briefing, meeting with their Senators and Representatives to make the case for increased Older Americans Act funding, especially for Title III B Supportive Services.
Today, n4a friend, “House of Cards” actor Michael Kelly, Jr., joined the conversation by pushing for III B funding increases in visits with lawmakers. n4a's Director, Public Policy and Advocacy, Autumn Campbell, accompanied Michael on his visits with key appropriators in the House and Senate. Back in January, Michael, whose mother Maureen Kelly was a longtime staff member and advocate with the Atlanta Regional Commission AAA, headed to the Hill to push for OAA reauthorization, also supported by n4a staff. Let's hope this heightened attention to OAA III B will help drive funding to this vital program, which has not had one dime of restoration since the 2013 sequestration, even as other OAA programs have slowly gained ground.
We call on advocates to join the push for III funding! Find all the tools you need to reach out to your lawmakers effectively at our FY 2017 appropriations campaign page, including a brand-new fact sheet on III B!
