Health Care and FY 2018 Funding Proposals Released
It was a busy Thursday for health care and aging policy on Capitol Hill. In the Senate, Republican leaders unveiled a revised bill to repeal and replace the ACA and restructure Medicaid in the morning, while House appropriators advanced an FY 2018 spending measure in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, the updated Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA) would do little to address the significant concerns that n4a has with the underlying legislation. Also, in the House, appropriators on the subcommittee that has jurisdiction over Older Americans Act and other aging programs voted to send their FY 2018 funding bill to the full committee for consideration next week. Although full details have not yet been released, n4a already has major concerns with the bill, which includes cuts to SCSEP and Elder Justice and eliminates SHIP. More in n4a's recent Legislative Update.
