Senate Moves Money Follows the Person Extension to President's Desk

This week the Senate unanimously approved and sent to the President's desk a measure that would extend funding for Medicaid's Money Follows the Person program through the end of the fiscal year (September 30). Previous funding expired on March 31, and this latest bill is the second short-term extension for the program in 2019.

Advocates will now be working with Congress to include a long-term, bipartisan MFP reauthorization in a package of must-pass health care bills that will be up for consideration this fall. The federal MFP program facilitates transitions from institutional settings to the home and community for older adults and caregivers. Stay tuned for updates from n4a about advocacy opportunities to promote long-term stability for MFP funding.
