On Monday, countries across the globe will take part in the 15th annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) to promote a deeper understanding of the impact of elder abuse, exploitation and neglect of older adults, which is a heightened concern this year given individual, family and community realities due to COVID-19.

On this day and all year long, AAAs help prevent and respond to elder abuse in their communities. To learn more, ACL and NCEA have developed outreach and social media guides, tools and fact sheets that you can use to raise awareness of elder abuse—and ways to prevent it—in your community.

A new resource from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau can help community stakeholders work together in the fight against elder financial exploitation and fraud. The new Networks Development Guide provides resources to help stakeholders form or enhance existing networks and increase the community's capacity to prevent and respond to financial exploitation and fraud affecting older adults. Find the guide and related resources online at www.ConsumerFinance.gov/ElderNetworks.

Get involved in creating a stronger society that safeguards our communities and prevents abuse.
