Webinar Showcases AAAs Leading the Charge to Combat Isolation & Loneliness

Last week, nearly 150 AAAs and other aging organizations joined a webinar showcasing best practices for educating the public about the problem of social isolation and loneliness in older Americans.

n4a is leading the annual Eldercare Locator Home for the Holidays campaign, which, this year, is focused on this serious problem affecting one in five Americans over age 50.

Since the campaign launched three weeks ago, over 130 aging organizations have contacted us to learn how they can help or to suggest innovative ways to get the word out. With the success of this webinar, we expect the number of campaign participants to grow even more.

The webinar featured expert commentary from presenters Gail Evans, Administrative Staff Analyst with the NYC Department for the Aging, Lisa Tyler, Communications Director, Senior Resource of Norton Shores, Michigan, and Sue Lamborn, Outreach & Community Relations Manager, Thrive Alliance in Columbus, Indiana. The presenters provided in-depth information about the activities they are undertaking to support the campaign.

As highlighted in the webinar presentation, participants can order the campaign's popular consumer brochure, which includes tips and resources to help those at risk or are currently suffering. Be sure to check out the campaign's toolkit which includes all of the resources you will need to conduct outreach activities in your communities.

The campaign will continue through mid-January, so be sure to contact n4a Communications Director, Dallas Jamison at 202.872.0888 or djamison@n4a.org to learn more.
