Business Institute Blog: Measuring Evidence-Based Programs

A new blog post from n4a's Aging and Disability Business Institute tackles the important measurement and tracking questions a CBO should ask itself when delivering evidence-based programs (EBPs), especially if the EBP is part of a collaboration with a health care partner.

Written by Kate Lorig, Dr. P.H., Director of the Stanford Patient Education Research Center and Professor of Medicine in the Stanford School of Medicine, the post offers insights into when it is vital for a CBO to independently measure whether its EBP is truly evidence-based, and when it would save an organization time, money and headaches by drawing upon the existing literature base to justify its EBP offerings. CBOs often do not need to “reinvent the wheel” when it comes to EBPs. There is a wealth of research already out there that can help a CBO bolster its case for delivering EBPs to a potential health care payer or provider.

Lorig offers targeted advice on how to approach your EBP research, and lists key questions that will help CBOs think clearly about the value and rationale for their own EBP programs.
