House Kicks Off Federal Funding Debates

This week the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies, which has funding authority over OAA and other aging programs, advanced its FY 2020 funding bill to full committee consideration.

We won't have full details on the bill until next week at the earliest, but at a high level, the $190 billion bill comprises nearly one-third of non-defense discretionary funding. The House proposal boosts investments in federal programs by nearly $12 billion over FY 2019 spending. According to the bill summary, the Administration for Community Living would see a $189 million increase over last year, which includes increases for nutrition programs and caregiver supports.
