New National Aging and Disability Transportation Center Launched

We are pleased to announce that n4a and Easter Seals have launched a new technical assistance center, the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC), to promote the availability and accessibility of transportation options for seniors, people with disabilities, caregivers and communities.

NADTC is funded by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) with guidance from the Administration for Community Living. The Center's activities are focused on providing technical assistance and information & referral to transportation professionals; gathering and sharing best practices; providing training and outreach; and administering community grants.

For consumers, the NADTC and the Eldercare Locator work together to ensure that older adults who contact either program are able to obtain information about transportation resources available in their local community and access transportation services when they need a ride.

“The lack of access to viable transportation options is a major reason why many older adults can no longer live with dignity and independence in their homes and communities,” said n4a Chief Executive Officer Sandy Markwood. She went on to note, “It's exciting to know that through its work to improve the mobility options of seniors and others, NADTC will also be in a position to improve the quality of life of so many Americans.”
