Creative Nutrition Partnerships in Difficult Times: The n4a-NANASP-Tivity Partnership

Creative Nutrition Partnerships in Difficult Times: The n4a-NANASP-Tivity Partnership
July 21, 2020

The COVID-19 public health crisis has caused significant strains on senior nutrition programs across the nation. In recognition of the unprecedented needs for senior nutrition support, Congress and the Administration authorized supplemental funding for Older Americans Act (OAA) services including nutrition programs as a part of the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act of 2020. Funding also included temporary waivers of some OAA nutrition requirements and transfer authority to offer agencies flexibility in funding and sourcing healthy meals for older adults.

To help provide increased meal procurement options for member agencies, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) and the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Providers (NANASP) have been exploring alternative meal procurement channels to provide our member agencies with increased sourcing options. We have partnered with Tivity Health® to provide shelf-stable and frozen Nutrisystem and/or South Beach Diet branded meals.
