Volunteer Resource Center

The Aging Network Volunteer Resource Center builds the capacity of Area Agencies on Aging to engage older adult volunteers and to enrich the experience of these volunteers. Funded by the Administration on Community Living, the Center also works with other Resource Centers in the Aging Network and state-administered volunteer programs. The Center’s goal is to increase the number of older volunteers providing important community needs. Strengthening the ability of AAAs to fulfill the crucial mission of improving quality of life for millions of older Americans is at the core of the Center’s work.

The Center offers:

  • Workshops, webinars, technical assistance and consultation to increase volunteer recruitment and retention cost-effectively
  • A service agreement with First Advantage, thereby reducing the cost of staff and volunteer background checks by 50%
  • A suite of public affairs templates to aid in local recruitment including the National Association of States United for Aging and Disability’s “Got an Hour, Give an Hour” campaign and n4a’s “Health Benefits of Volunteering” campaign.
